Elves in Room 4

11/26/2019

Santa has sent two elves to Room 4. Pam and Sam will be watching the boys and girls in school every day and will be reporting back to Santa. I really hope the boys and girls will be on their best behaviour!  Pam and Sam are very kind elves and they really want everyone to be extra kind this festive season.

Each child in Room 4 will get the chance to take Pam or Sam home for a sleepover. Please take photos with your phone of your child with Pam/ Sam doing something very kind for someone else e.g. helping mom to cook the dinner/ playing with a sibling/ helping the shopkeeper to pack the food into the bag/ helping Dad to light the fire etc.  Please email these photos ( max 3 photos) to
room4elves@gmail.com
There is a book in the box also. Please read this story with your child when it is his/her turn to have an elf for a sleepover. It is very important that your child returns the elf, the storybook and the box to school the following school day.

The elves will go home for their first sleepover on Friday (Nov. 29th) and will continue their visiting until December 19th.  They will then return home to the North Pole, hopefully reporting back to Santa that all the boys and girls in R4 are very kind!

Have fun,
Ciara

* If you do not wish for your child to take an elf home on a sleepover, please let me know.*

Station 1: Water Area: The children take on the role of 'plumbers' and have fun with the tubes, pipes, containers etc. in the water area.

Station 2:  Planning and Construction Area: The children discuss the new playground planned for Millstreet. The children make drawings of what they would love to see in the new playground. Using blocks, tubes, straws etc, the children build and construct the new playground.

Station 3: The Three Little Pigs Area: Having read and discussed the story, the children use straw/ lollipop sticks/ bricks cut out of sandpaper and stick them on to the house template. Finally, they colour and cut out the pig character.

Station 4: Role Play Area:  The children discuss the various jobs on the construction site- the architect, the builder, the carpenter, the painter, the electrician, the plumber etc.    Using dress up, toy tools, blocks, diggers, etc, the children role play various scenarios from the construction site.

Station 5: Science Area: The children explore and  experiment with magnets, sorting objects into magnetic and non- magnetic sets.

Station 6: Fine Motor Area: The children discuss the various rooms in the house and the activities associated with each room of the house. The children then cut out the pictures of the various furniture and glue them into the correct room of the house on their worksheet.
