January 21st 2019 marks the anniversary of a pivotal moment in Irish history as the Dáil officially celebrates its 100th birthday. The first meeting of Dáil Éireann was held in the round room of the Mansion House, the residence of the Lord Mayor of Dublin, on 21 January 1919. Today also marks the day when the first shots were fired in what would become the 'War of Independence'.
Swimming lessons in Mallow Swimming Pool commenced today and will continue for a total of six weeks. Pupils from 2nd/ 3rd 4th class thoroughly enjoyed their first lesson today.
GRANDPARENTS’ DAY 2019
[IN CONJUNCTION WITH CATHOLIC SCHOOLS’ WEEK]
We will celebrate Grandparents’ Day on January 30th [Wednesday]. We will begin with Mass at 10am in St. Patrick’s Church, followed by a visit from the grandparents to the classrooms to say a quick hello to the grandchildren. Light refreshments will be served for the adult visitors only as, unfortunately, we have limited space. All children will remain in their classrooms with their teachers.
We look forward to welcoming you all to our school on January 30th.
The teachers of Presentation N.S. and Scoil Mhuire B.N.S will complete and In-service English Course on January 28th. Pupils will remain at home to facilitate the completion of this course.
Last October, all classes planted some bulbs in our top yard. After the mild Christmas weather, we can already see some daffodils blooming.
Here is just one recording of the many songs performed by our senior choir at their Christmas Recital.
