We have been learning all about fire safety this month. Today we had a fire drill and we all know how to escape safely in the case of a fire in our school. We encourage all families to plan an escape route and practise a fire drill with your children at home.

SSE AIRTRICITY

We are delighted to announce that our application for community funding from SSE Airtricity was successful. This grant will be used to purchase black-out blinds for each classroom. This will not only provide an effective solution to our solar control costs but will also allow ultimate light control so that our interactive whiteboards will function to their highest technical standards. These blinds will be fitted in the coming weeks.

A big thank to Anne Reynolds and all at SSE Airtricty.

Cinemobile Writing Workshop: Millstreet

5th & 6th Class students spent the first half of the workshop writing a story together and then each child finished the story individually. Every girl will receive an illustrated copy of the day's story, with their photo on the back, in the post within a day or two of the workshop. The first of of the story - the portion written by the class - will also appear on the Cinemobile website and Facebook/Twitter feed.

Please don't forget that the Parents' Association meet tonight at 8:30pm in Millstreet GAA Hall.

Here we share again an image of Rose and Sheila ( Parents' Association) presenting our school with a cheque for €1000. This was our share of the money raised at the annual Halloween Disco organised by the Parents' Association.

Football Blitz:October 6th

Well done to our 4th/ 5th/ 6th Class girls who participated in the recent football blitz in Dromtariffe. Special thanks to all the parents who assisted in driving the team to this blitz. Thank you also to Michelle for taking the photographs on the day.

Information regarding the work and role of the Parents' Association, important pupil insurance forms and upcoming Parents' Association meeting has been sent home to all families.

If you are interested in taking out this insurance, please return money and form to the class teacher as soon as possible.

GOAL JERSEY DAY

The first Friday of each month, we encourage all pupils to walk or cycle some or all of the journey to school. Please remember the road safety rules and remember to wear a hi-viz vest if it is foggy!

Football Match Report

10/1/2015

On Tuesday(29/9/15), the Millstreet P.N.S girls played a match in Ballyanley against Cloghore. We played in Sciath Na Scoil football.Our goalie and backs saved a few goals but unfortunately Cloghore took the win. The score was tight but hopefully we will win the next match.Our mid fielders and forwards played great. There were a few minor injures in the game but nothing major . Well done to the girls!

Camogie Match Report

On Wednesday (30/09/15), the girls played an outstanding game and won 3/3 camogie matches for grading day. We are now in grade A. We played Lyre , Derrinagree and Rathcoole. They were three good teams.Well done girls. We are so proud of you!
